Back in the 2000s, when I was a mere NBA blogger, I was beyond bullish on Nike basketball ads. To me, they weren’t commercials. They were short films that played an integral role in the culture of the sport.
I posted breathlessly about “Don’t Criticize (Hyperize),” the gonzo multiplayer rap video that Mike Warzin and Brandon Pierce dreamed up in 2009, and thought way too hard about Stacy Wall’s final verdict on the class politics of dunk contests, delivered via Business LeBron.
Hopefully, some of my Nike basketball spots made someone feel the same way.
